KALEJ VALLEY NEAR DARJEELING, RAINBOW WATERFALLS
KALEJ VALLEY has located just 68 km from Siliguri and about 12 km from Darjeeling. It is a completely offbeat place, with tea gardens on one side and a forest on the other.
This place will be the best address for those travelers who just want to appreciate the solitude of nature.
Kalej Valley is named from the Kalej bird. But now here the number of these birds is very less.
The most famous place to visit here is RAINBOW WATERFALLS. When the sun shines on the waterfalls, a rainbow is formed here and the experience of seeing it is unforgettable for the tourists.

How to Reach Kalej Valley
The nearest railway station from here is New Jalpaiguri and the nearest airport is Bagdogra.
10 km before reaching Darjeeling you will find Rongbull Bazar if you take kurseong road. Kalej Valley is about 5 km below Rongbull Bazar.
You can directly book a car from the Airport or Railway station or if you want to come by share, you can first reach Rongbull Bazar and from there you can take a private car.
Best Time to Visit
October to March is the best time to visit here. During this time the sky is clear so nature can be enjoyed very well.
Moreover, Rainbow Water Falls is the main attraction of this place, it can be enjoyed here at any time except during the rainy season.
Nearest place to Visit
Chatakpur– The distance from here to Chatakpur is very short only 14 km so you can easily visit here
Darjeeling- Those who don’t like to stay in densely populated areas like Darjeeling can cover Darjeeling from here as well. Darjeeling is only 13 km from here.
Dawaipani– This small village is located right next to Darjeeling and the distance is only 21 km from here
Lepchajagat- The distance from Kalej Valley to Lepchajagat is only 15 km which can be easily visited from here.
Rongbull- It is a small quaint village that is only 5 kilometers from Kalej Valley.
Tiger Hill-Darjeeling’s famous Tiger Hill is just 10 km away from here.

Important Travel Tips
The last two to three kilometers of the road are very bad so it is better to bring a big vehicle for a visit.
You can come here any time of the year except during monsoon season.
There is no ATM facility from this place so carry necessary cash.
Suggested Tour Plan from Kalej Valley (4 Night 5 Days)
A suggested tour plan idea is given below. If you are short on time in your hand then you can do this plan for your short days as well. In that case, you may have to cancel one or two Sightseeing to adjust your time.
Day1- (NJP or Bagdogra to Kalej Valley) First day you can come here directly from NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport via Kurseong. On the way, you can do Kurseong sightseeing.
Day2-On the second day you can now explore Kalej Valley and visit Indrani Waterfalls (Rainbow Waterfalls).
Day3- On the third day you can do a sightseeing tour of Lepchajagat along with Darjeeling and stay back here for the night.
Day4- If you have time, you can also visit Dawaipani, Chatakpur, and Tiger Hill on day four.
Day5- (Kalej Valley to NJP or Bagdogra) And on day five you can take breakfast from here and leave for NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport.
