Rangaroon: Darjeeling Tea Estate Stay and Tour

Rangaroon, where Kanchenjunga meets Darjeeling. There you are forced to forget everything and immerse yourself in the beauty of this small village.
This place is ideal for those who enjoy the songs of nature in solitude. Mountains, waterfalls, and green tea gardens are all around.
Rangaroon is situated at an altitude of about 6000 feet. The road from Rangaroon to Darjeeling is not yet built. If this road is completed in a few years, it will be only 2 kilometers away from Darjeeling.
Now the distance from Darjeeling to Rangaroon is only 17 kilometers via Jorebungalow.
The best view is at night when the lights of Darjeeling are on like a golden arc across the hill when seen from Rangaroon village.
There are many fountains (better called small streams) in the village. The village is surrounded by a beautiful tea estate. The river Rangnum flows through the bottom of the village. If you want, you can walk through the tea garden to the river.

Tea Garden

Rangaroon Tea Estate is one of the oldest tea gardens in West Bengal. It is Covered by about 90 hectares. Currently, half the tea gardens are now closed. The leaves are picked up and sent to another garden for processing.

How to Reach Rangaroon

The nearest railway station is NJP (New Jalpaiguri) and the nearest airport is Bagdogra. You can book a private car directly to Rangaroon & it will take about 3 to 4 hours & the rent can be 3000 to 4000 rupees.
And if you are a budget traveler, first you reach from Siliguri to Jorebunglow by shared bus or car and then take the right turn towards Peshok Road. After a few minutes, you will reach the 3rd-mile forest and go left side downhill for Rangaroon. From there you can reach Rangaroon either by private car or by trekking.

Best time to visit Rangaroon

You can come here all year round. In winter, Kanchenjunga is incredibly clear from here. And also come here to stay for a while to escape the scorching heat of the city and you will get very nice weather at this time.
During the rainy season, you can also visit here, the tea gardens become greener and more picturesque than before during this time.

  • Darjeeling-Rangaroon is just 17 kilometers from Darjeeling so you can visit easily from there.
  • Dawaipani-The distance from Rangaroon to Dawaipani is only 5 kilometers so from there you can visit Dawaipani also.
  • Tinchuley-Only 15 km away from there to Tinchuley so you can visit easily.
  • Lamahatta-Lamahatta is very near this place only 10 kilometers.
  • Takdah-It is only 12 km from there. So you can visit Takdah also.

What to do in Rangaroon

  • Trekking-Those who like adventure can come here by trekking. There are two short trekking routes from here, one is 3rd miles from a distance of 8 kilometers and the other is a distance of 5 kilometers from Dawaipani.
  • Bird watching-It is an ideal place for bird lovers to see different species of birds in winter.
  • Camping– you can also stay in a tent camping. And there is also a trekkers hut there.
  • Village Walk-It is a beautiful picture-perfect village that you can explore on waking.
  • Tea garden Visit-There are some old tea gardens that are half closed now. It will be a wonderful experience to be able to visit these beautiful Tea gardens there.
